Join us on Saturday, April 11th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in our Program Room where URI Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions and test soil samples. Please bring a sample of your soil if you would like it tested. Registration is not required but you sign up to get a reminder email!

Instructions for taking a Soil Sample:

    1. Use a spade to collect a thin slice of soil from the root zone, 4-6 inches down.
    2. Take about 1/2 cup from each of several spots in the same area. Mix them together. (Keep the samples from the lawn, vegetable garden, or flower beds separate.)
    3. Allow the soil to air dry on newspapers.
    4. Put about one cup of the soil into a clean plastic or paper bag. Label the bags, where they were from, (lawn, vegetables, or flowers)
    5. Bring it to the library for testing!
