Teen Summer Reading ProgramSpark a Reaction

This year’s Summer Reading Program theme for teens is “Spark a Reaction”. The 2014 SRP for Teens is an 8-week program for ages 12 and up. Pick up a reading log at Reference to keep track of books read. Read 8 books by August 22nd and you will be entered in the Grand Prize Drawing. Also, each Monday there will be new trivia posted on the Art Wall. Fill out a form and earn a chance to win a prize. Trivia prize drawings will take place on Thursdays. The timeframe for this program is June 27th – August 22nd.  Ask at Reference or call 333-2422, ext. 17. Following are some of the programs and events planned:


envelopePen Pals
As part of the Summer Reading Program at Lincoln Public Library, we invite students aged 5-18 to participate in the statewide Pen Pal program coordinated by the Glocester Libraries. Youth will be matched up with another letter writer from a different RI town. Come into Reference for an information sheet and an application. All mailings are conducted via the state library delivery system. To guarantee a Pen Pal, return applications to Reference before Friday, June 27th, 2014.



Board Games
Join us at the Lincoln Public Library on several Fridays throughout the summer for board games of all kinds. Two local teens will be conducting the games from 1:00-3:00 PM on June 27th, July 11th, August 1st & 2nd. 




Hunger Games Basic
As part of the 2014 Summer Reading Program at Lincoln Public Library, Animal World Experience will guide students through their Basic Training as Tributes on Tuesday, July 29th at 10:30 AM. Students will learn about shelter, fire, water, edible & medicinal wild plants, camouflage, and archery in about an hour. Ages 12-18. Please register at Reference or call 333-2422 x.17. 




Safe Sitter
The Lincoln Public Library is offering a Safe Sitter Program on Wednesday, July 30th from 9:15 AM to 4:00 PM. This one-day program is designed for 11-14-year-olds.  Training will include safe sitterbabysitting as a business, childcare, behavior management skills, and infant & child CPR.  Students should bring a lunch, drink, and snack. Preregistration is required.  Class size is limited to eight (8) students.  $45 fee is cash-only and expected at time of registration. Star Wars Afternoon
Get away from the heat!  Join us at the Lincoln Public Library on Monday, August 4th at 1:30 PM for an afternoon of Star Wars starting with an Icebreaker game, followed by science fiction trivia and a movie with popcorn.  For ages 12-teens.  Register at Reference or call the library at 333-2422 x17.




Anime Program

Anime members and others who are interested will meet on Wednesday, August 6th from 1:30-4:30 PM at the Lincoln Public Library for an hour of Adobe Photo Elements followed by Anime movies & drawing as you wish. This is a good chance to meet others who share your Anime interests.  7th grade through high school ages are the norm.  Please register at Reference or call 333-2422 x.17. 





Steampunk Jewelry
Ages 12 and up are invited to the library on Thursday, August 7th at 2:00 PM for an hour of Steampunk Jewelry design.
