Teen Summer Reading Registration
We will be offering a reading program aimed at teens and young adults at the Lincoln Public Library this summer. The theme is Escape the Ordinary. Registration starts today, June 29 and will be ongoing throughout the summer. Forms and brochures are avaiable at the Reference Desk. Questions? SRP 2015 Rules

This year's Teen Summer Reading Program runs from July 7 through August 14.

  1. Register @ Reference or online (see below). 
  2. Pick up Bingo card & book review entries.
  3. Complete all nine Bingo squares by August 14 to enter Grand Prize drawing on August 19.
  4. Enter book review weekly drawings for prizes.
  5. Complete Heroes Book Bingo for prizes.
  6. Reading lists available @ Reference.

* Up to 400 pages = 1 unit/book review ; over 400 = 2 units.  e.g., Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows has 759 p. - a 2-unit title.
E-magazines & E-books OK too!

Hour of Code Intro for Teens
Join us for an Hour of Coding at the Lincoln Public Library on Wednesday, July 29 at 1:30 PM. We will be using laptops to access a free introductory course. This program is imited to 10 students ages 12 & up. Please register @ Reference or call 333-2422, ext. 17.

Safe Sitter
The Lincoln Public Library is offering a Safe Sitter Program on Tuesday, August 4 from 9:15 AM to 4:00 PM. This one-day program is designed for 11-14-year-olds. Training will include babysitting as a business, childcare, behavior management skills, and infant & child CPR. Students should bring lunch, drink, and snack. Preregistration is required. Class size is limited to eight (8) students. $45 fee is cash-only and expected at time of registration. No phone registrations. No waiting lists. Please register @ Reference. Cartooning with Tony
Local artist Tony Figueroa will teach two (2) cartooning classes this summer at the Lincoln Public Library. The first will be on Monday, July 13 from 2:00-4:00 PM.  The second class will take place on Monday, August 3 pencilfrom 2:00-4:00 PM. These classes are appropriate for ages 12-16.  Maximum number of students is twelve (12). Materials will be supplied by the Friends of the Lincoln Public Library. Preregistration is required. As part of the 2015 Summer Reading Program at Lincoln Public Library cartoonist and illustrator Eric Fulford will present an interactive comic book program on Wednesday, August 5 at 6:00 PM. In one hour, students will develop a new superhero and his/her story. All materials provided. Limited to 20 students ages 12+. Please register at Reference or call 333-2422, ext.17.

 

 

 

Mixed Media Memories Craft
Teens, you are invited to create a 3-D memory of your summer, vacation, favorite craftsactivities/books using the arts of scrapbooking & collage at Lincoln Public Library on Thursday, August 6 from 1:00-3:00 PM. A variety of scrapbook paper, stencils, old cds, and other items will be on hand. If you have any photos that you would like to use, please bring them with you. Suggested themes: school year activities, sports, & special events. If interested, please register at Reference or call 333-2422, ext.17.
